Christmas in the Village Parade - Kick Off Event

Come see the OCHS’s celebration float!  Serving soup, hot chocolate, coffee after the parade at the Mill.  The museum will be open.

 

The Ortonville Community Historical Society is excited to share numerous events in celebration of the Mill’s 150th year. 

Reflecting on not only the happenings at the Mill, the historical society is working with the Brandon Library and numerous local groups to demonstrate life in Ortonville over the past 150 years.

Ralph the Peddler at the Old Mill - Ralph recreates the everyday life of a peddler in rural Michigan during the mid 1850’s.  Additionally, Ralph tells stories of rural family life and how they were supplied with basic household items.

Flag Day at the Old Mill - Honoring our flag of the United States, the Veterans of Post #582 will be on hand to accept your tattered & torn flags for the ceremony of burning.  A new circa 1870 Flag will be dedicated for the Mann School House.  Orders being taken for new American Flags through the historical society.   Short program and light refreshments.

OLD TIME BASEBALL GAME The Rochester Grangers vs. The Ortonville Townsmen.  Contact Fred at Brandon Parks & Recreation to be a part of the team.  Game will take place at the field (a plain old field, not ball diamonds) behind the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church at 270 Grange Hall Rd., Ortonville MI 48462 1/4 mile West of M-15  Bring lawn-chairs, lunch is being served before the game.

Brandon Twp & Ortonville Chamber of Commerce’s  ‘SEPTEMBERFEST’  The Mill will be buzzing with lunches, a wood carving demonstration and more.  Celtic, Old Time Music and Dance followed by bluegrass and blues throughout the day.  !st Annual Wagon parade starts at the Old Town Hall 11:00 am, ending at the Mill.   Decorations are strongly encouraged!

HALLOWEEN  PARTY  Bring your carved  pumpkin for judging,  and  dress up for the  “Very Old Fashioned” Costumes Contest at the 150 Year Old Mill!  Games and treats starting at 12:00 noon and ending at 2:00 pm.  Prizes, treats, games, fun!

“CHRISTMAS IN THE VILLAGE”  Great fun to be determined.  Visit the Mill in it’s holiday glory!   WDET’s “Folk Like Us” host Matt Watroba will be performing at the Old Town Hall at 6:00 pm for a night of celebratory music.  More info at www.folkwithshadesofblue.com

VICTORIAN TEA & FASHION SHOW in commemoration of the Women's Suffrage Movement and the Right to Vote in 1919

Tea starts at 11:00 am and vintage hat fashion show at 12:00 noon.   Held at the Brandon Library, limited seating, RSVP to Jeanie or Karen (248) 627-2851

THE DODWORTH SAXHORN BAND PARADE AND CONCERT  Parade starts at Harvey Swanson Elementary at 7:00 pm and follows South and Mill Streets, ending at the Old Town Hall.  A concert at the Old Town Hall will begin at 7:30 pm.
